Many Types of Patient Advocates
Advocacy is both a mission and a job. Private-pay patient advocates work outside existing reimbursement-based healthcare systems. Additionally, many advocates serve as volunteers and educators helping patients without any of the for-profit influence or rationing that takes place inside the medical system. Private advocates fight for patient rights, negotiate medical bills and provide a variety of support services.
